who might have the address or know how to tell what company made the CD/RW that's installed, but not made by the OEM for an ordered P-III machine?

Write down the FCC ID number and search it using that. I think there is a link to that database on windrivers.com

If the purpose of your quest is to determine if Adaptec software supports it, dig through Adaptec >Roxio until you get to "No Vendor Known" - or the like - and look for your model number.

I just had to go through that with a CenDyne branded OEM burner.

This will tell you everything that is installed on your computer. (I think) You can print out the results. Mine took three pages. Very handy to have. http://www.belarc.com/BelManage.html

You can also download Sisoft Sandra and it will tell you detailed information about your PC Hardware.. (free download)

the easiest way however, is just dig through your device manager and see what the model # of your drive is..
