i have tried 2 g force 4 mx 440 cards in my system and niether will work. I am running a ati rage pro 128 agp w/ 16mb now. i am running a ecs k7s5a motherboard with a 1.4 ghz amd processor, 256 mgs of sdram. the old card works great. when i put both cards into the system, nothing would come up, not even the boot up screen. i could not get into the bios of my pc computer when both were in at the same time. is there a conflict between the ddr memory on the new cards and the pc100 memory i am running. please help

What is your bus speed running at? I think its running at 100MHz because you have pc100. I think it should be running at 133mhz for the geforce 4 card to work. I'm not really shure because I have never ran a geforce 4 before. Have you installed the latest 4 in 1 drivers for ou motherboard?

I've got a question? DO I make you h***y baby? DO i? DO I make you randy baby!! yeah.

Sorry just wanted to say it:p

i am running my processor at 133 even though my memory is 100. i have downloaded new drivers but i have not installed yet. i am hoping it won't mess things up. what do you think

installing new drivers won't mess anything up, and the memory on the card and in the system won't mess eachother up. The card should run on your system just fine.

Also have a look at www.newegg.com and check out there memory. Its really cheap and you can use some new memory if you are going to be playing some games. If your mother board can support I would recomend getting some DDR memory.

You aren't trying to have both graphic cards installed at the same time are you?

of course not, i was trying seperately. i made sure both each snapped into the agp slot. but i didn't get the boot up screen with either one each time i tried. i made sure that the primary display setting was on agp but nothing happened

What are you using for your power supply? I have read of people having major boot up problems with marginal 300 watt power supplies with the K7S5A, and I think the Geforce 4 MX might draw more power than your old ATI card, with its' 250 watt core and 64 MB of DDR ram. The fact that it won't even post suggests a power problem or that the card isn't properly installed. Does the ECS motherboard BIOS offer any beeps or codes?

if i am not mistaken, the power supply is 450 watt. i am thinking about trying a radeon with ddr memory to see what it will do. The bios doesn't give me a beep or anything when i power up. I have even gone down to a mx 420 with 64 mg of sdram and it still would not power up. i have a cd drive, a scsi burner, floppy, and 2 hard drives. do i need to unplug something to get the card to work?

the fan on both cards starts spinning when i boot up but there is still not any display. I can't get the post screen or anything. And i found that i have a 400watt power supply. Anyone know what is going on?

Have you checked the pins on your monitor plug? See if they are all straight. Also make shure the monitor in turn on.(I have had a lot of peole not do this before)

i have checked all of that. there is one pin missing. but that should not be an issue. i have probably run 8 different video cards with that monitor. i am baffled beyond belief.

I have the EXACT same problem! I have an AMD ThunderBird 1.2Ghz CPU and an Abit K7-RAID motherboard. I've tried both a PCI and APG version of the GF4 MX 420 video card, and NEITHER of them will allow me to boot up. They don't even let me see Bios, they just hand the system and neither will engage the monitor. It's like the card's arn't even turned on, and it's frustrating as hell because I want to play GTA3 and it won't work on my existing Voodoo3 video card. (That's another long post about technical difficulties!)

I blame it on the card lol.
TAKE IT BACK AND GET A NICE NEW GF3Ti200/500.

You need to somehow get a return on the GF4MX.

Get your ***** into gear and get a GF3Ti200 if you can't afford a GF4Ti4200

You must be in real pain if you can't play GTA3, but you have it sitting right in front of you:(
