NDC 01-12-2001, 05:05 PM Here you go: http://www.elementkjournals.com/ntp/9901/ntp9911.htm cyclone2 01-12-2001, 09:06 PM 2nd opinion http://windows2000.about.com/compute/windows2000/library/weekly/aa001231b.htm socalgal 01-12-2001, 10:27 PM Take three: NTFS 5 vs. FAT32 (http://www.win2000mag.com/Articles/Index.cfm?ArticleID=8294) With W2K-FAT32 you can now overcome the 32G hdd barrier by installing the SP1 (and you may have to upgrade your BIOS depending on your mobo's support for larger drives) HaroldW 01-13-2001, 02:13 PM Both can handle large disks. Fat32 is compatible with Windows 95 OSR2 and later, 98, ME and 2000. NTFS (from 2000) works with NT (service pack four or greater) and 2000. The main area NTFS excels is local file and folder level security. Non-NTFS partitions only allow for share level security (across the network.) NTFS also allows for compression or encryption (though not simultaneously.) NTFS basic disks can also be converted to Dynamic Disks and spanned or striped. With spanning the space from two hard drives appears as one. The first hard drive is filled then, only after the first is filled the second is filled. With striping, the disks are also written to as one, but the data is distributed across all disks simultaneously. This has the effect of increasing read performance. SysOpt.com
