I just got a MiniDV video camera.
Im looking for the cheapest way to add firewire to my computer (a whole lot of good those USB 2.0 ports are doing on my PC.)
I was thinking about buying an audigy cause I really only need one port. But if i have to go buy the cable seperately, the ATI TV wonder may be a better choice.
Software isnt an issue, I'll be using Adobe Premire, and After effects.
any suggestions
thanks

I would recommend the Maxtor 1394 PCI Firewire card.

Maxtor 1394 PCI Adapter Card - http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=11046728&m=488&cat=552&scat=557 - $49.99

Audigy won't change much over your present Live!, so the ATI TV-Wonder (I believe you're speaking about 8500DV) over the GeForce3, so buying a simple dedicated add-on FireWire/1394 card will be a best choice.

Thanks jimbo, it looks like $50 is as cheap as it gets to add firewire.
and ND the real reason im considering the audigy is for the firewire port, if i get it for $60 at a computer show, vs. spending $50 on a fire wire card. for $10 more i get a new sound card. (which i dont need, but as far as bang for buck...) But i dont think the audigy comes with a firewire cable, if so its not cost effective.
I dont intend to replace my vid card, the card i have is the pci ATI TV wonder (its an add on TV card.) I use that for capturing from video (ie. TV, VCR, and other AV inputs.)
Im just looking for the CHEAPEST way to add firewire, and I will need the cable to link to my new JVC MiniDV camcorder.
