GTA3 won't launch

GTA3 will not launch on my son's pc.

Win98
G3Ti200 (2832 drivers)

Anyone have any ideas on what to check?

your son is lucky to have a parent that will buy him an M rated game. I'm still trying to convence my parents that its not a bad game(yeah, right):D

it might be the OS, but I'm not sure. it should run on that GF3 Ti 200.

Violent video games do not make murderer's out of us.

I think we might have stumbled onto something. We scanned his computer and found over 6800 viruses (so far):mad:. The virus scanner has been running all afternoon. Once we get that cleaned up, I feel confident we will be able to run the game. At least, I hope so :( .

Is it that new virus running around kazaa? It makes multipul copies of itself. I mean thousands of copies of itself!

have you read the readme?
It will work with Win98 but needs Dx 8.1 installed, run DXDiag from the run box and check everything is correct.
Have you got enough RAM, it needs at least 96Mb.

What is the rest of your system?

Wow 6800 virus and his PC still runs. After you get it cleaned up a nice new Format would be in order?

6800? Holy ****, your son's AV didn't detect them until you ran a full scan? It would be format city for me. Whew...anyways, I agree with Doc's post. Is your son using DX 8.1?
