I want to benchmark my cpu, amd athlon xp 1700, is there any way to do it for free, or do you have to pay for it?

Welcome to Sysopt! :D

If you don't want to pay for it, use a shareware version of a benchmark utility like Winstone, 3D Mark and/or SiSoft Sandra, to benchmark your CPU.

You can easily find shareware benchmarking programs on the 'net by doing a search on Google. Here's a great resource for any of your benchmarking needs...BenchmarkHQ (http://www.benchmarkhq.ru/english.html) . And thanks to Aznmask for the link to cpuscorecard, looks like another promising website I'll have to visit and soak as much information out of.
