I tried to replace my Voodoo 3 2000 PCI with a Visiontek GeForce2 MX 400 PCI and only got a black screen. I tried all the usual stuf to fix it. Tried another one. no luck. Visiontek tech suport said it won't work with my Asus T2P4's HX chipset.
So, has any PCI GeForce TNT2 or newer worked with an HX chipset? Perhaps another brand?

The finest PCI graphics card out there is not an NVidia chip product - PowerColor Radeon 7500LE-PCI. Dual heads (one CRT, one DVI-I adaptable to CRT) plus TV-out, decent performance (64 MBytes of DDR RAM), solid design within the power limits of PCI (look mom, no fan!). Product code RV2P.

Fine BUT, will it work with an HX chipset?
I am tilted toward GeForce because they are the best choice for "playing" Trainz. Still, a PCI ATI would be good enough, IF it worked with the HX chipset.

I don't see why it shouldn't. There have been no relevant changes to the PCI specification from what the 430HX does.
The one issue is power consumption - some card makers care zip about the specified power budget in a PCI slot. This is not going to bite you if you use an ATi chip, even less so with the LE flavors. (The absence of a cooling fan is a good indicator - little heat also means low power.)
