ICQ and AIM started not letting me on about 2 or 3 days ago. ICQ says theres no problems with the network, but I havent been able to get on.
Anyone else got this problem?

Starting around Monday AIM was pretty flakey for me. Some others I asked about said they were having problems as well. The past day or so it has been working fine.

Ummmmm, no problems over here! (UK) I would notice if there was, I`m online about 18 hours a day, and always logged onto ICQ.

Sometimes I can`t log on if I`ve just been disconnected, but I leave it about a minute or so, and try again, and it always logs on after that.

TD.

I havent been able to get on at ALL! AIM says 3)starting services, but then 10 seconds later spits out an error msg.
ICQ's flower just keeps showing connecting, but never gets on, and thne 20 seconds later or so says 'Can't establish connection. Check your Internet connection and reconnect ICQ.'

I know these two are owned by the same company, so I wasnt sure whether it was my computer or thier network. mIRC seems to work fine, but thats not what I wanna use. Im in the northern New Jersey area. On ICQ, I clicked autoconfigure, and it finds a server it can get on, but then when I try to connect, it spits out that same error msg. Same deal with AIM.
Well, them two goin down is making me leave the house more often so that aint such a bad thing..but still...

Can't help you with the ICQ, but are you using the latest version of AIM or a beta maybe? I had that problem once before using a beta and had to upgrade to get things working properly.

Hey, Aura... are you using any kind of firewall?

Yup...ZoneAlarm, high security. But it usually works with it on. I try to shut it off and connect with either, and it still dont work. Tryed in my Win2k partition and my WinME Partition.

I just tryed dialing up on my mom's comp, same ISP and dialup number, no firewall, but has Win98SE. Same problem. All my friends with AIM aint home right now..tryed calling em to see if thier's was wack too.

Then it's definetly not your system since the same problem is occuring on other systems as well. Perhaps it's their end that's the problem....

Hey just tried it and it works.
Both of 'em. Maybe thier logon server round here was busted or something, and they share em for both msging services.

Hey, how is the file transfer speed on AIM Vs. ICQ? Is AIM any faster?

from what i heard ICQ is faster. i think the top speed on my cable modem on Aim was 12/kbs. which is slow. i haven't tried d/ling from icq yet. i just talked to my friend and he sayz that he gets a 32/kb over cable
