I just installed a dual boot on my windows 98se and Linux 7.2. I did not use Partition magic for this. Rather I used Grub as the boot loader. Is partition magic more reliable then Grub?
Also, I am considering dual booting Linux 7.2 on my current drive, which has windows 2000. So basically my question is does Linux dual boot better with win98SEor win2000? Also, am I better off using Partition magic or Grub, or win 2000 boot loader.

In the past I used Partition magic to dual boot win98 and winNT. Both systems eventually became unstable and I had to reformat the entire drive. I also installed Partition Magic on my friend’s brand new hard drive and after one year the drive died.
So now I'm a little concerned about partition magic.

Let me elaborate a little on what I'm trying to do.
I have a 933MHZ PIII with a Asus CUSL2 board. I am using a swappable IDE hard drive. I have 4 OS I would like to run.
Windows 98SE
Windows 2000
Windows XP
and Redhat 7.2
My main drive is 20GB running Windows 2000. It has two partitions 7GB for the OS and Apps and the other 13gb for files that are mostly music. (By the way win 2000 has been awesome.)
The second drive is 40gb and the first partition on it will be Windows 98SE.
I have several ideas
FIRST idea is to have a dual boot on my 40GB hard drive with Win98 and Win XP. Then, I would put Linux on my 20Gb drive that has win 2000. I would simple reformat the second partition on that drive.
SECOND idea is to use partition magic to tri boot Win 98, Redhat 7.2, and Win XP on the 40GB hard drive. I don't even know if a tri boot is possible or even desirable.
So, If I tri boot I can leave my 20Gb Win2000 alone which as I mentioned has been the greatest thing since sliced bread for me.
Then again XP seems to be overtaking 2000 so perhaps I should think about creating a stable XP drive.

Anyone have words of wisdom before I tier apart my set up?

All these methods of multibooting are ok, I like boot loaders like PQ magice and System Commander because if anything wroing happens you don't loose all your OSs as easily. I have multibooted Win 98, Win 95, Win 2000, NT 4 Serv, NT 4 Wkst, and Linux and it worked fine with Sys Commander but you can do with out a boot manager if you install them in this order, Win98, Win 2000, Win XP the Linux, in that case you would just use the Linux boot loader but you may not want to format your drives.

If I were you i would go with you second choice, remember that PQ Magice has to be installed on a FAT or FAT 32 partition in Windows, Tri booting is easy. As for 2000 you can get rid of it and replace it with XP you don't really need both.
