oh it's the rainy season in Japan and the centipedes are a foot long! That is really creepy, gramps. I get the willies from anything with more than 6 legs. The giant centipede is up at the top of my "kill the SOB!" list. :p
I would run the ever-useful Repair technique, grampa-san.
Boot from the CD and select Setup > F8 > Install > Repair. Stay away from the Recovery Console!

You got that right Bill ! One of the sobs tried to ambush me in the bathroom ysterday - fortunately I saw a leg sticking out from behind the curtain! And now apropo the ever useful boot from the cd F8 and repair technique - booting now. I had no idea xp could do this very osx-like trik.Let's hope it works.

I used to live in Akita Gramps, they have a rainy season like no other! Are you on the Japan sea side of the island?
I'd been following your posts about your problems with the virus but I can't dig up where the fix for the benjamin worm is. Do you have that link?
I've just taken grokster off one of my machines. I think the installation had the worm in it. Does anyone have a favorite p2p program that doesn't put all this nasty stuff on their systems? I was using bearshare for a while quite successfully but it seems to have petered out.

Here's teh "Benjie" fix:
Start by deleting \windows\system32\explorer.scr and \windows\temp\Sys32, and removing these registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run]
"System-Service"="C:\\WINDOWS\\SYSTEM\\EXPLORER.SC R"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft] "syscod"="0065D7DB20008306B6A1"
I forgot where I clipped it from. I think it was a newsgroup.

Fear not! I found your old thread (it wasn't in the directory I thought it was in), tracked down benjamin and I'm currently 1700 disinfected files into removing it. I feel so dirty.
I was once in a public toilet in the mountains near Lake Tazawako. I walked up to the urinal and the millipede that must have been six inches long poured over the lip. I've been shot at by people when I was in the military, but I never ran so fast as I did that day. They've got giant wasps too!
Boy do I miss onsens and the food! It was like being on the Iron Chef tasting board everyday!
Cheers,
Tim

Nope Im in Mie prefecture , Ki peninsular.
The fix for Benjamin is - REINSTALL. But then again the fix for any problem is REINSTALL I guess so this comes as no news to you :x . I think they're centipedes not milipedes - I'd pin one and count his legs but the ref refuses to enter the ring and umm they scare the b....zus outta me.

grampsjp-san, Centipedes, now there is a topic I know something about. I have been bitten half a dozen times here in Hawaii and swear they are the nastiest critters in this beautiful island state. I'll swim with sharks any time. Some of these blood suckers here are a foot long too and usually sneak up on you in the dead of night. Fortunatly where I live now they are few and far between. I hear if you keep a chicken on your bed post that they get scared and stay under the rug. I hope that helps. -arijahou
