Hi am just starting out in building my own system. And believe me it is exciting. Today I just installed the processor, Ram, and the Cooler (on the processor) tonight I will finish the job.

I was just wondering is the ntvida (32Mb) is ok for playing games.
And if not what can I expect. Up until now I have played dozens of games on my notebook Compaq 1900 192MB 500 celeron (dvd 6x) with a system HDD of 6gig, and an external hdd of 13gig. I have been able to play games for over 2 years.

Now the video card is a ATi rage 8mb of vram BUT i played loads of games with no problem. Now I am wondering should I ubgrade the vid card right away? or can I wait and upgrade something else like hdd or or something else.

Thanks.

Any 32Mb nVidia card should be able to handle all but the very latest games, although if you benchmark a lot, you will be disappointed. A 64Mb DDR card would probably last a couple of years before it starts to struggle and some of them can be had quite cheaply now, so If I were you I would upgrade it, but I understand all budgets are different. :t

it depends on what games you play on. Theres no point buying a 64MB DDR Geforce3 if your gaming demands arnt high. Graphics cad prices wont ever increase so if you do decide to leave it until you get a game you cant play, the same graphics card will be £50 cheaper and the next GPU wil be out for the same price that you can pay now.

Yeah, get the GeForce4 Ti4400, since it is not that expensive and still pretty powerful for games. You've be amazed to see the graphics.

I'd go with 64MB as a base memory configuration on a new card right now.

Gf3 Ti200 or Gf4 Ti4200 are the best price/performance options in NVidia cards.
