hey guys, i just need to format an old computer...win98 was on the old machine. I used a win98 boot disk to get to the C: prompt, it's a DELL machine, an old Pentium manchine. anyway, i FDISKed the drive, but now I need to format the HD, I can't do that without having the program "format.com" on the disk. SO i just need to make sure all I have 2 do is format the machine after I run FDISK, and then install the drivers for the CD-ROM, then run the setup for WIN98SE using the CD-ROM, right???
please respond, ASAP!!!

Yep, that's all you need to do.. You will not need to load the drivers for the CDROM drive since the Win98 BootDisk has generic drivers to load the drivers for the CDROM. Just make sure to select "Boot With CDROM Support" from the list of boot options when booting from a Win98 Boot Disk. Also check in your BIOS under Power Management to make sure you have the ACPI compliant enabled. On some circumstances, I noticed that it causes problems on Power Managment when enabling it after Win98 has been installed...
