I have a Micron with a 20GB HD, Zip Drive,
CD, and CD-RW. These 4 devices take up
all 4 ATA connectors to the Motherboard.
I purchased a Fireball 40GB HD that I want
to add as a second drive. How can I do this?

I added a PCI UltraATA 100 controller
card and hooked
up the Fireball to it. I don't see anything
in Windows explorer or My computer.

I tried the jumper as a Master and as a
slave for the Fireball drive and the same
results. This drive is the only thing
connected to the PCI controller. The controller and the HD both show up in the
device manager as working properly.

Thanks,
Scott

Did you format the new hard drive?

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. I found my problems.
First, I hooked up the HD to the wrong
IDE port on the Controller card. It has
two and number 1 should be used first. Once
I did that, I then found that Partition
Magic could see it and I created a formatted
partition. All is ok now.

Thanks again,
Scott

You shouldn't have to format a new drive.

Try "Add New Hardware" in Conrol Panel.
