Colleagues:

My neighbor's PB 233's HD is real messed up, i.e., needs dumping and clean install. It has the infamous Restore CD but these folks would like the PB stuff off and straight Win98se installed. I've tried a Win98 boot disk but it's not recognized as a valid system disk. If I F8 to command prompt and attempt format (format c: /s), message = insufficient memory to load system files. Any ideas on how to dump this HD and load Win98?

Thx! Brangwen ')

I would look here:

because its a PB and this is a good resource.

As far as insuffucuent memory for the system files have you tried formating without the /s and then using the sys c: command?

No, Bdunn, I have not tried "format c:" command, though I'm about to. What is the "sys c:" command? New to me.

Thx!

Bdunn:

I simply used FORMAT after booting with Windows Startup Disk, loaded WIN98 from CD. Curiously, computer booted from aforementioned Startup Disk, but not from "factory labelled" Win98 Boot Disk. I'll have to examine contents of each and compare. In any event, thx for your help and PB website resource.
