Win 98SE restarts itself/locks up as soon as GUI loads!!

I recently reformatted my HDD, and upon reinstallation of windows 98SE, found the computer kept locking up or restarting as soon as the GUI finished loading. The compo runs fine in safe mode, but i have tried disabling all startup items to no avail, heat is not an issue as i am running at proper clock speed.

Anyone had any similar experiences ??

System Specs:

Abit Kt7a RAID (YH)
Seagate U Series 5 (30gb)
AMD 1ghz Tbird
12X Creative PC DVD ROM
16X10X40 Philips CDRW
Gf2 MX400

I'm sure it's a bad driver. Remove unneeded hardware and remove the drivers for them in Safe Mode. Do so one at a time until it boots properly.

Had that problem myself and it turned out to be a conflict with the GeForce2 and just about everything else. Had to swap it for a Radeon
