D drive not accesibe/ The device is not ready

I have just installed a New Artec 50x cd-rom into my Pc which is running Win 98.

I can see my D:/ drive in control panel/sytemstemdevices is set correctly and dos also reconises the D drive.

when I place any type of cd in the drive i always get message saying Drive not accesible.


Please help.

One problem with the AZTECH IDE Cd-Rom drives is that it somethimes will not work when set with the HD drive and jumpers set as slave. Try using the other IDE controller and set the cd-rom as master. :t

Yep, that would be the problem. I put two of my CD drives (one dvd, one CD-RW) into one controler. They work fine.
