Recently upgraded to Win XP Pro,and have been desp trying to install FB330P Parallell port scanner, with absolutly no sucess.
Have intalled all correct drivers and followed Canons support but no luck.
They suggest changing BIOS to try all variations which I have done.
Deleted printer hp deskjet 820,so no printers installed.
Checked all cables...ok
Only thing I noticed in device managed the LP1 setting drivers default to windows drivers c:\windows\system32\paprport.
Even tryed to disable this..still nothing.
CanScan toolbox etc, brings up message no scanner found or message suggesting no drivers found"please connect scanner"
I have tried everying can anyone suggest any other options before I chuck a perfectly good scanner to scrapheap.
Tried changing c:windows\system32 drivers to look for canoscan but cannot find any on my installation disks.

In the Properties for the LPT port in Device Manager, set the IRQ to "any IRQ assigned to this port". This is the key.
Make sure it's SPP in BIOS, but this can be changed depending on scanner specifications.
Now getting error code 0x10ff0800
bios settings set to ecp
no settings available for spp ?
any advance on this
and thanks

Please follow the screen instructions to change the LPT port type. You either use the numeric keypad +/- keys or press Enter to choose.
Your help very much appreciated.
Went into bios following settings.
On Board parrallel port 378/irq 7
mode ecp
ecp mode use dma 3 (only gives option 1or 3)
parallel port epp type epp1.9 (blanked out no option to change)
4 options to change 1 normal
2 epp
3 ecp
4 ecp/epp
no spp?
in system device for lp1 port settings use any interuppt
enable p/p legacy not checked
i/o range 0378-037f
i/o range 0778-077b
irq 07
dma 3
use auto settings not checked
Any further advice very grateful...deep thanks

Set LPT to "normal" in BIOS setup.
In Device Manager > LPT, a picture says a thousand words. See attachment.
Deep and gratefull thanks
your last suggestion worked...changed to normal and scanner kicked into life.
You have saved me new scanner price.
Thank You
