Its free/shareware? try the Downlosd libraries for the file name or slice.ZIP. taftdb 05-15-2002, 12:25 PM You can also try SPLITS (free), I have used it and it works well, but I like the WinZip span disk option better. Split a Binary File into Multiple Chunks http://www.fourmilab.ch/splits/ Usage: splits filename.exe 1423 NOTE: 1423K = 1.38Mb or the capacity of a formated diskette. Syntax to recombine: copy /b file.exe.001+file.exe.002 file.exe Randaroo 05-15-2002, 12:52 PM I like a little proggy called jrsplit because it generates a batch file which allows you to reassemble the file on any puter. You can get it here. (http://www.spadixbd.com/freetools) Eve 05-15-2002, 03:02 PM Winzip is fast, easy and FREE for evaluation use ! :D And you can use in e-mail too ! Good Luck ! Bothra 05-15-2002, 03:05 PM I like WINRAR coz you can specify how big you want each file to be. jkac123 05-15-2002, 05:15 PM Hey!! Thanks to each and everyone;) Icertainly have enough options now:) jkac123 jkac123 05-15-2002, 06:10 PM Randaroo, or whom it may concern:D I have "jrsplit file" however I am not having much luck with it. Everytime I try to do the split it says error "stream write error" I went to the help page and it is pretty basic. Any suggestions? jkac123;) Randaroo 05-15-2002, 08:15 PM I would download it again, it may be corrupt. It's a simple program, doesn't install any files anywhere else. pgriffet 05-16-2002, 06:15 PM Hi, there is a way to put more than 1.44 Mb on a floppy, you can go to 1.72 Mb. There are many softwares which do it, one of them is SuperFormat Version 2.7 by Faiz. But I've lost the url, sorry. I think a simple search on google will help, the zip file is 80 Kb. From the readme.txt of SuperFormat : "This is a freeware developed by yours truly. Themain object behind the project was to increase the available disk space . The software changes the way files are stored on the floppy .It utilises some of the space used by the file system to increase the storage space to 1.72 MB." Or a shareware : Maxidisk http://www.herne.com In fact, this format was used by MS a few years ago, you know, those 20 floppies with Win95 or MS Office, it's called DMF (Distribution Media Format). It has nothing to do with compressed drives, it simply optimizes the physical space on the floppy. Pierre. SysOpt.com
