The benefit is that the OS partition fragmentation is kept to a minimum. This leads to better overall performance. That's it in a nutshell... Dave NDC 01-08-2001, 05:16 PM Yep, I also by the rule of always having a dedicated partition for the OS only! I have dedicated partitions for Apps and Pagefile as well. It makes life a lot easier when you need to reinstall the OS when you do a fresh install of Win2K since Win2K wipes out all the other directories when Win2K is reinstalled. That may or may not sound good, but in the end, it left my data & program partitions almost unaffected (before I copied everything to a new drive). SysOpt.com
