I'm hesitant to try and build a computer system, but am seriously considering it. My main priority with this is to get rock solid stability for the business. System will also serve as my home computer. I'm trying to decide on a stable motherboard/processor right now. I'll probably get an 800 or 900Mhz AMD processor (not sure socket or slot), what kind of motherboard do you all recommend ?? Any other advice ?? Thank you very much!............MATT

well here is my take on it
Asus A7pro or A7V depends on if your going to use the extra ATA controler ?

good memory Micron, etc.

sound blaster sound card.

video is a hard one I would have said a voodoo just becouse they work with anything really well but there all but gone so now for stablity probably ATI
or a Matrox Dual head, 2 moniters is really great for getting work done http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

IBM hard drives there is no other choice http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

the best heatsink fan combo you can get ALpha, Globalwin, thermaltake ? Ys-Tech, Delta ?

and a 800 or 900 MHz T-bird not the 1gig leave your self some headroom your looking for stability why put a maxed chip in your system http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

then the best case you can aford to put it all in with at least a 300watt power supply
if you have the $ the Cooler Master A.T.C.S. the price is high but god what a case http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Plextor CD-ROM and CD-RW

all the other parts Modem, Nic ?

Soltek SL-75KAV-X http://www.soltek.com.tw/English/eng_main.htm

Gigabyte 7ZXR http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/products/pro_new2.htm

Personally use both of them, not a single problem, rock solid board, justify their price. If you wish some exotics, check Asus A7V133 (266 FSB Athlon, out soon) or Abit KT7A.
