I'm on RoadRunner and using their supplied Ericsson PipeRider broadband modem. I'm attempting to access the "PipeLine Portal" by going to "http://my.piperider" as stated in the online manual at http://www.aastra.com. It just won't go! I've tried every configuration/setup I can think of, and IE just can't find that page. It's internal IP is 10.97.208.1 and I can't access it from goin to http://10.97.208.1 either.
Has RoadRunner bocked access to the modems configuration, or is there a backdoor in or what? Anyone else experience this type of problem?

If it helps, I can't get there either. It must be hosed. Be patient.

ermm..
http://www.aastra.com works for me.
http://my.piperider is the internal website configuration page of the modem which you wouldn't have access to. (not on my modem anyways)
http://10.97.208.1 is the same as http://my.piperider
So that's why your confusing me :)

That is not generally referred to as a "page" actually. It's called the "firmware address". Firmware is what's used to configure the modem.
Could you give me the exact web page where the instructions are? I don't know what to search for.
BTW...I have RR too and I am not allowed to configure my (Toshiba) modem. Is this authorized or are you hacking the modem?

http://www.aastra.com/Products/cablemodems/HM204c/support.html is the address to the modem, the manual is in PDF form.
I'm just trying to get access to the "firmware address" because I would like to set up it's internal firewall. Seems RR has left all ports wide open!
I'm guessing RR has disabled access to this somehow which is a bummer.. I know **** about hacking, but did you find anyway to get into your toshiba?

OK...I see it's a USB modem.
No...I don't bother trying to break perfectly good hardware. ;) I know that's counter to our "credo", but I need the stuff to work. :)
Before I take a closer look at the PDF, I should tell you that all RR customers are responsible for applying any desired firewall software. Zone Alarm is free, after all.
OK...it's very possible that this was a custom order without the Pipeline feature. It could be locked too. It's sorta like HP Asus motherboards. They're proprietary, even if Asus makes them. They can limit memory and CPU speed compared to the mainstream versions and they do.
I'm sorry, but your info is correct. I'm wondering...are you using the USB or the Ethernet connection?

I'm using the Ethernet connection...
ahh well.. Guess i'll have to wait till i can save up a bit more $$ for that Linksys router :D
Thanks for the help Bill

Try connecting it as USB long enough to configure it.

nope.. still won't let me into the portal..
I was suprised that being on a usb connection is a bit slower than ethernet.. Is Ethernet that much faster than USB?
anyways, thanks for the try.

It's not the speed so much as the CPU overhead that USB requires. Ethernet rocks!
