hi i just upgraded to winxp. I get pauses every once in awhile while playing cs. I know i cant be my system cuase i have 1.6a p4 and and 40ms ping always. So i thought i could be something with the irqs. My sound sblive card is shared with my vidcard. Could that be the problem?

Maybe. Open System Information (MSINFO32.EXE) and navigate to Hardware Resources > IRQs. Click anywhere in the right pane and then press CTRL-A and then CTRL-C. You have copied that data to the clipboard. Paste that data in a reply here.

It's better not to have any of your devices sharing same IRQs, but I guess it's more like a dream
In your case it might just be the problem. I assume you're using AGP videocard so the soundcard is the only thing you can move around the different slots to find the one which not gonna conflict. Try PCI slot 3 or 5.
Anyway, if you're still into problems, post more of your system specs ...

but anyways here are my current irqs
when i posted the problem my sound card was shared with my vidcard but as u can see i switched the nic with the sblive now them however i still have the same problems, Little spikes and freezes when playing counter strike. im trying to do my best to troubleshoot before i go buy some new hardware =/

-i had this problem even with a different OS
-i upgraded from an amd900,Asus a7v, to my new p4 1.6a, gigbyte mb. had the same problem with the old setup.

so im guessing it could be my nic, networkcable,or my 4 port linksys router...

Try disabling one or both Com ports in BIOS. Disable the LPT port if you have a USB printer and don't need it.

In the PCI section of BIOS, immediately Reset Configuration Data/ESCD/NVRAM and reboot.

Do you have the mobo manual. I had similar prob.s Look for the pci's IRQ assignments in the manual. On mine the pci slot 4 isnt shared its labeled as used meaning it is the only one on those settings. Now the AGP in mine is shared with pci1 only so the slot is always empty on my mobo.:)
