Quake 2 question

I still play Q2 a little. I recently removed my voodoo3 & added a all in wonder 128pro. Now I have to choose default open GL instead of 3dfx open GL. When I start the game it is very dark, in fact, I have to turn the monitor to max settings!! I have tried this on other PC's & the same thing! What can I do?

try this:
in console:

gl_modulate 255

then type vid_restart.

You may find 255 too much (it's max gamma so you won't get any dynamic lighting effects) you can have any value between 0 and 255.
