(If you didn't know about the site already...)

If you are looking into dsl and cable, they can be priced around 40 to 50. Where I am from it is close to 40. This also includes internet service.

yeah, 40 - 50, maybe even around 60 if it's a good deal. I haven't looked through all the stuff at dslreports yet, but that is where i started. Does anyone know wny other sites like that one? I even checked out the big companies that should have good coverage: Sprint, AT&T, etc. but non of them had it for around here. I guess i'll just have to wait for a while.

Have you checked with your local cable company? I raised hell for a year, calling and writing, and getting other people to do the same. Finally got it http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Also call you're local phone company, they may offer ISDN or DSL. The only problem with that, if there isn't antone else using it in the same area as you (your neighborhood), they may have to install a "booster" to get the signal. Sprint wanted an extra $50 a month just for that!

Our local cable company just got bought out by Charter (thing Paul Allen owns). I cheched the web site for them, but apparently they don't even offer cable to this area. ****, I wonder how were getting out cable then, and who are we writing those checks out to? I think i'll contact them and bug'em for a while. Our local phone companies are just the large ones, GTE i think for us anyway. I don't think they'll help me any.

Its pretty basic...

- Dialup
- ISDN
- Cable
- DSL
- Satellite

DSL is what I reccomend, but it can range from regular old ADSL which is on average 1.5mbps. There are slower DSL options, and then you can get all the way up to 56mbps with VDSL.

I haven't heard many good things about Satellite internet access. I think its a service that still needs to be refined. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
