I've been reading a few previews and this game looks like it's going to kick ***. I saw it at Best Buy today but couldn't buy it....not payday yet:( Anyway, does anybody have this game yet? Impressions? Is it as good as everyone makes it out to be?

I have it, and yes... it's good. If you want to absorb yourself in something completely enormous in scope, this is it. There is so much to see and do it boggles the mind. While not quite on par with classics like Torment / BG / BG II it's still impressive.

Be forewarned though -- if your system is anywhere near the minimum requirements don't bother. This game chews up systems for breakfast.

At first I was a little hesitant about Morrowind (not really much of an Elderscrolls fan). But I bought into the hype and spent the big bucks for the collectors edition. I was completely amazed with this title. My first gaming session lasted over 12 hours, and I was ready for more! LOL...I actually found myself camping out on high peaks just to enjoy the scenery and ambient effects. But eye candy certainly isn't all this game has to offer. The storyline is incredibly immersive, with endless paths to take your character that you can cross at anytime. No joke, this game is HUGE! Brilliant design...it sure doesn't feel linear. Two thumbs up!

:D  :D

I got it as well, and I agree, its a fantastic game. I havn't hit or heard of many bugs, either.

It may not be your cup of tea if you are a gamer who exclusively likes fps/dungeon siege/fast action. (Personally I like both.)

I have been playing for about 4 days, and have to agree with everyone else who posted. Morrowind is a great game. For those of you who own the game, check out www.rpgdot.com for a new Morrowind.exe file that will help the games performance. The file will disable the "safewrapper" from the game thus increasing performance.

is a geforce 3 ti 200 good enough to get decent frame rates for this?

The minimum specs still give a good framerate - or so my friend tells me. 27 fps average with a computer that sits just on the minimum specs. (occasionally dropping to 20). I can't wait to get this game, it sounds absolutely awesome! Everything I have heard from reviews/friend is positive. I can't wait to mod it.

Okay guys, does anyone know if you can move your save character to another machine? I want to upgrade my RAID setup with faster 7200rpm hard drives. Morrowind of course, is installed on the slower 5400rpm drives. So after I get my new drives in, I'll have to reinstall Morrowind, but I don't want to start completely over. Has anybody tried something like this yet?

And if you haven't found out the difference yet between the regular and collector's edition accr. The collector's edition comes with the MW soundtrack, an art book, a world map and a lead figurine. Morrowind does normally require the game cd to be in the drive to play, but I believe there is a no-cd patch available on the net somewhere. There are 2 cds that come with the Morrowind game. Enjoy.

Yeah just save your saved game file to like a floppy. Then just put it back into the save file.

Also I don't think talk about "cracks" is really allowed here.

Thanks gibsinep. I was hoping it was something as easy as saving your character files to a floppy and then going ahead with the reformat. I wouldn't want to find out the hard way that I'd have to redo my character over again.

Regarding the talk about a crack, I'm just repeating things I've read about in the Morrowind forums. As I understand it, the patch seems to help with the actual stability of the game. As for me, I just turn down hardware audio acceleration and turn off the in-game music. The game seems to runs fine for me. I've only had 2 crashes to desktop since I've installed the game three weeks ago after I picked up my pre-ordered Collectors Edition at EB.

Anyway, thanks for the info. :t

Just so you know you may want another opionon on that whole character save. I never did it with Morriwend but On every other game that is the way it is. Just save it to a floppy and to another place like HD or cd.

Accr, I've been told fairly reliably that you need at the very least a 32mb card to run this game - and then it doesn't run that well. Check out http://www.rpgplanet.com/morrowind/ for system specs (plus its a great news site with links to hundreds of reviews and previews)

That's a great website for Morrowind news ironik311. I'm glad you mentioned it since I usually make a trip or two daily to get some news as well as some tips on the game. Many hardcore crpg gamers there that will help out players in a bind.
