I have my ecsK7S5A set up in an old gateway towercase, i bought the gateway pc for a little under £2000 a few years back along with an agreement of sorts called your@ware which would let me trade it in for a new gateway comp after 3 years.
Anyway ive been trying to get in touch with gateway to see how much trade in value this thing has, i eventually got redirected to another company who after a LOT of explaining on my behalf finally understood what i was rambling on about and told me some guy would ring me back the same day. ive rang several times since and get the same answer so its seems as if im wasting my time on this.
ANYway back to my K7S5A; i have installed it without modifing the power button wireing so when it was time to trade my gateway comp in i could just put the original components back in without REmodifying the wires and making a mess.
So ive got this towercase with my K7S5A in and to knock it off i just pull out the power cable, this has been fine for ages; no problems other than the ms harddisk error check on startup taking ages but i thought hey i need the towercase in its original condition right?! well yesterday i pulled the cable out to knock it off then pushed it back in and my psu went BOOM! it was in fact quite a spectacular explosion; loads of sparks, smoke ectera my poor dog must have left the room with a single jump and ive got my parents running in wanting to know what im doing with granpas shotgun:D was real funny for all of 2 seconds then i was pannicking like hell trying to swap the psu with a new one and see what damage id done.
OHNOOO all i was getting was a black screen.
Ive got a mate who likes to dabble with electrics (he always gets a hardon talking about his huge radio setup:confused:) well i took it to him and he got his soldering gear out and had it up and running in notime! (just kidding about his radio setup, that is one sexysexy piece of communications technology :OP)
anyway im a pretty happy chappy now, my comps running just fine and the dogs recovering ok just thought id let u all know i think gateway sucks bigtime but k7s5a's totally rock!
