How? Position? Rebooting will restore icons that have changed in appearance. TweakUI can "repair" icons too. If your icons have shifted positions, there are freeware programs for saving their positions. jkac123 05-07-2002, 11:15 AM i rebooted and they did come back. Still doont know where to change icons. Thanks! I have no clue what happened to change them in the first place? BipolarBill 05-07-2002, 11:30 AM If you don't have this, you should: http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp They change because of high memory use. The icons are saved in a "cache". Under severe stress, the system will flush that cache and use it for other things. The icons will sometimes change when they are restored. rangeral 05-07-2002, 12:51 PM If its the standard icons like my computer etc. you can rite clik the desktop and hit properties and go to effects tab you can change those icons from there. Buji 05-07-2002, 01:17 PM Icons Randomly Change to Different Icons (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q132668) jkac123 05-07-2002, 02:11 PM Thanks Buji thats a good artical! BipolarBill 05-07-2002, 02:17 PM Yes it is. Unfortunately, all of those solutions (other than the registry hack and the F5 trick - which rarely works) require more steps than using Tweak UI > Repair > Repair Icons. Since MS doesn't officially support Tweak UI, they didn't include it in the article as a solution. I've been using Tweak to fix this problem since '96 and it has never failed me. SysOpt.com
