Hello
After switching from Intel to AMD, for the first time, I found out that my $250+ Hauppauge WinTV-PVR card is not compatible with my 8KHA+ MO/BO. They say it's a VIA chipset issue. I don't know if it's just a KT266a compatibility issue or the whole VIA line.

So, if you own a VIA based MO/BO and a TV card, could you please share your MO/BO and your TV card make and model, please. Thanks Packn

I don't have a TV card, but I do use Matrox video with my VIA board, and Matrox makes TV cards. I think Maxtor suggests users load the VIA 4 in 1 drivers...which could be an answer for your card as well. Have you loaded the 4 in 1 VIA chipset drivers?, they are supposed to be loaded right after the OS is loaded, and before any sound, video ect.

You might check at the VIA site to see if they have any comments concerning the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR card.

Oh no, the TV card makers again. The odd thing is all those "incompatible" combinations work fine and well in Linux.

Problem is that most of the TV card drivers and applications for Windows are incredibly bad, engineering-wise.

Most of those TV cards use the same Conexant Brooktree BT848 or 878(A) chip, no hardware reason why one should run and the other one shouldn't.

Installing the latest chipset drivers can't hurt though, and with VIA chipsets, you might also want to install the "RAID performance patch" software to increase PCI throughput.

lol! Good point my WinTV Theater works perfectly under Linux but runs with some problems under 2k! heh, I have a sound problem when trying to use my Radio and a channel switching problem with my TV. =\

oh well, cheers all!:p

PS: you can get latest patches for PCI thingy if your using VIA board's. It doesnt work though, but you can try ;).
