I was given an old P11 333MHz networked PC which had the hard drive reformatted. I have loaded Win 98 and removed the network card, and now get error messages on start up. Cannot find vnetsup.vxd, vnetbios.vxd, vredir.vxd, dfs.vxd and when the windows screen comes up 'could not load msnp32.dll' which I think are all to do with the original network setup.
Can anyone tell me how to stop these error messages?

Yes...install and then uninstall all Internet Tools in the Windows Setup tab of Add/Remove Programs. Otherwise, you can open SYSEDIT.EXE and edit out the entries for those DLLs and VXDs in the WIN.INI and SYSTEM.INI files. You may have to trim the Registry too.

Hi gildrone,
sounds like you removed the network card after installing 98.
if you right click the network Neighbourhood icon on the desktop then click on properties.
now remove all references to your extinct network card it should clear the errors up
