I just installed Office XP onto my computer and I'm having problems in word. I write a few characters like: " this is a tes ... (4 seconds of freezing time) and then I can type again. It's really weird cause I have Office XP installed on a win 2000 system on a compaq presario and it works fine even though that system is 5x slower than my current one. Anyone know what's wrong?

Try this; Open Word-Tools-Options-Save- and uncheck -Always Create Backup and -Allow Fast Saves.
Look around in here and change some other things to your liking.
HTH :D

it doesn't seem to be a saving problem, cause when it freezes their is not autosave occuring but the little notepad at the bottom of the screen does stop writing.

What I meant was that these two options can cause Word to freeze up sometimes. So, by unchecking them you might fix the problem with a simple fix. It won't hurt to try it as it doesn't mess anything up.

I gave it a try and nothing happened but now it's working again, still have no idea why...

Gotta love MS, LOL.
Glad you fixed it.
