I am getting a bit tired of testing IE with, "does your IE have a security flaw" type prog and the answer always being "yes it does".
So, anyone defected to another browser they can recommend?

Hi, I've tested several browsers based on the IE (5, 5.50 or 6.0) engine (you can't get rid of it) but those browsers are lighter than IE because they have a "Tabbed Interface: It has the ability to open multiple sites and windows inside a single browser task", according to the homepage of one of those. I've tested with 7 pages loaded with MyIE, it took 13 Mb of Ram. The same pages with IE (7 instances of IE, of course) was 60 Mb of Ram. Each time you open a IE instance, your "lose" 9 to 10 Mb of Ram, even before opening a page. That's on my Win98 box with IE 5.50, YMMV. The way they handle history and favorites is the same as IE, index.dat files are updated as if you were using IE.
Netcaptor : http://www.netcaptor.com shareware, they are still freeware versions hanging around.
Crazy Browser : http://www.crazybrowser.com freeware, clone of netcaptor.
MyIE : http://changyou.mainpage.net freeware, by a Chinese guy. Direct download here : http://planetmirror.com/pub/majorgeeks/browsers/myie.zip (400 Kb).
Here is what you can read on Crazy Browser's homepage.
"Crazy Browser is a powerful Web browser. It has the ability to open multiple sites and windows inside a single browser task.
This has full support for Windows XP Theme and P3P privacy policy (requires IE6) and JavaScript error suppression.... It can handle multiple monitors and has tab status indicators. Annoying ad windows can be removed automatically and multiple pages can be saved and reopened together. Crazy Browser comes with many preconfigured search engines, but you can extend it to use your own.
Surf the Web at will with this powerful, customizable, easy-to-use browser. "
Some nice features of MyIE (and sometimes of the other ones) :
Groups of URL, you can with one click open as many URL as you want.
Quick save : save the current page without dialog box.
Automatic refresh : you can specify whether the current pages are automatically refreshed and you can specify a delay.
AutoHide : with a shortcut, MyIE disappears, even from the tray. Nice if you are loading pages which you don't want to be seen by others. You can also minimize to tray.
Toggle Images button : nice for 56k users.
Aliases : create shortcuts for your favorite URL.
Clean history, cookies, cache with one click, all or selected TypedURL.
Shortcuts to switch from tab to tab : F2, F3.
I personally use MyIE because Netcaptor freezes sometimes and the scrolling doesn't work with Crazy Browser, don't know why but I know other people wich don't have such problems with Netcaptor or Crazy Browser.
Sorry for the basic English.
Pierre.

Cheers Folks
Now running Opera and MyIE and MyIE is currently winning on account of speed and no adverts.
Funnily enough, IE still manages to pop up from hyperlinks even though I have Opera installed as default web browser!.
Beginning to like this.
Well if you buy Opera the adverts will go but the added bonus is that speed of page downloads with be quicker, as adverts take bandwidth, but the Opera window is much larger too. If you are a student or pensioner you can get Opera at a reduced price. Check out the pricing and see if it is worth you do so.
That’s what I did and I’m well happy with Opera.
The problem with IE is that is it pervasive. Try 98Lite Professional Edition at www.98lite.net or there free version called IEradivator an uninstall IE as best as can be.

IE 6, Netscape 6, Opera : all had one or other problem that I did not wish.
Went to Mozilla 1.0 (mozilla.org) freeware.
Does it all, fast and free.
Few minor bugs that don't affect browsing.

Been running with MyIE and it is very good. Got Opera, but I think I need to pay some cash to get rid of the ad's.
I am going to try mozilla next. But 9/10 so far for MyIE
