I got a XP PRo disc that after spending 1-1/2 hrs loading on top of ME, fighting with no modem that works even if all shows fine(???) minor irratations etc. Now each and every time a whole slew of things keep popping up with errors and a message to contact ms with this info, or write it down for assistance...what gives? This is happenning on almost every application. So to make this stupid thing work I just dumped the whole load back to ME again, so here i am at the start again. PLEASE HELP>

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can load XP on top of ME. I think you have to unistall ME then install XP.

Although ME can be upgraded according to MS, it's not a good idea. Back up, format and install clean.

Please read my other rantings littered throughout the forums on XP.

You, my freind, completely back up my whole thoughts on XP,

ITS ****!

I have a wonderful win2k system that should have never abandoned in the first place. Rock solid stable and never crashes even when I try and make it.

Did I mention that I hate XP?

I agree with the clean install solution if you must. Why not return your XP for a refund, ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho hoh o, God I hate that BG for all his money sucking ways!!!!!!!!!

Xp can be loaded on top of ME without a problem. I have done it on my laptop. BTW, XP is not ****, if you have a win2000 machine then there is no reason to upgrade but it is most defintly better than ME.
For you system though a clean install is probly the best option. Also do a check on http://www.microsoft.com/hcl to see if all you hardware is compatible with XP. Another thought is that it could be a weak PSU. I have herd someware that NT systems are more sensitive to power fluctuations, but I am not compleatly shur that is a problem.

Good luck on fixing your system.
