Looks like my new ATI Radeon8500 64mb saved me a CPU/mobo/ram upgrade for now. Compared to the KyroII I had..well...there's no comparison, almost. I still believe the Kyro's TBR rendering is better than ATI's or Nvidia' rendering systems. I hope VIA(new owner) puts a lot of $ into TBR along with a state of the art T&L hardware engine.

For anyone that has a CPU that's less than 1.0gig(600mhz min) and isn't AGP 2.0 compliant....get this vid card.

My system:

P3-550e(CUmine)@733 133FSB
Soyo6vba133(VIA Apollo Pro chipset)
256mb Infineon 133 SDRAM@cas2
Intec 300w full tower case
Golden Orb cpu HS/fan
Win98
WD20gig ATA66

BTW- I'm using the stock 4.13.7191 drivers and have'nt OC'd the vid card yet.....I'm havin' too much fun with it for now! I'll get back with you later....dawgtuff.

I totally agree with you ...I bought a Radeon8500 retail.. and I don't need to upgrade at all even though I will..LOL

This card not only kicks *** but it looks so great with Aniso at 16x without a fram hit .. It's a must buy man!!

Loco- A gf3Ti200 needs a 2.0 compliant mobo. Don't take offense, but my post was for people that have a older 1.0 compliant mobo and want to upgrade w/o having to change their CPU/mobo/ram.

I'd like to see some benches of that, [ja] LoCo, if you don't mind ... Ti200 ?! Ti500 maybe, and not always, but Ti200 is too weak to cope with Radeon 8500. Take a look here (http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/02q2/020418/index.html).

I have a Radeon 8500 retail in my personal system.
I have a nVidia GF3-Ti200 w/28.32 drivers in a system for sale. The Shuttle AK35GTR system w/GF3Ti200 running a XP1700 @ 140fsb scores 6985 using 3dMark2001se.
My system scores over 9200 with the Radeon 8500 w/8K3A+ @ 140fsb. All memory timmings are set at turbo.
There is a huge difference between these cards.
Neither card is OC'ed. I tried GFTweaker but never could get it to work.
But at least the 28.32 detenorators did allow the complete bench to run without any hangs.

I got myself an 8500 LE 128 and it was well worth it... games run amazingly smooth, though once I got it I felt the need for a little more ram and it was well worth it
