XP home and files command

I am getting error message out of files in Windows XP home
edition running on a Novell 3.12 network. I have tried
adding files=250 to config.nt and also running in
windows 98 emulation on startup. The program runs
fine on a windows 98 ver2 machine running the same
novel 3.12 but I can't get it to run on XP home edition.
Any ideas?

WinXP home is Windows NT and cannot make hide nor hair of that command. Novel 3.12 was an NT 3.52-era NOS. Care to put a catalytic converter on a '57 Fairlane?

Hello. Got files command to work. New problem came up.
Need more expanded memory, but XP doesn't let you
specify your own memory. I wish to have 30000, but
XP has set paramaters, ie limited to 16384.
P.S. Passed emisions test on idle, now need to pass
the high rpm test.
If anyone knows how to tweek expaned memory on
XP home edition I'm all ears.
