Hi
I have a STB velocity 100 on my K62 400 machine. The machine has 168mb of memory. I was looking for a cheap upgrade. Would a TNT 2 M64 be a worthwhile upgrade or something like a KryoII would be better. Remember this is only a 400mhz machine. Any suggestions would be good.:)

A TNT2 M64 will work in most older motherboards better than the Kyro will. It's a pretty good card and may be the best that will actually POST in that system. The Matrox G450 is another very compatible card.
If you'd like to stretch out a bit, I would suggest that you start planning on a major system upgrade.
Gotta second BipolarBill on a "major system upgrade" issue.
But KyroII will be faster than TNT2 M64 with any given CPU, even with 386 I guess :)

I think the TNT2 should match up well with that CPU... Anything more than the original GeForce 256 would be a waste since you'd need a faster processor to take full advantage of it.

First a Kyro II needs a killer CPU to show it's shine!!
So get a GTS 2 ....

If you can, try getting a Voodoo 3 3000 16MB.
It is fast and with a K6-2 400 you won“t play with 32 bit, so its no problem. It also suports Glide, for Unreal T and some oldies.
I really recomend a Voodoo 3 3ooo AGP.

kills the Voodoo3 and the Kyro II on a weak CPU!!

thanks for all the replies, I have a athlon 1.33 machine as well with a geforce 4mx 440. I was just wanting to upgrade this machine so that I could play UT, halflife and quake 3 over a lan. I can get a tnt for around £20, so I might go for that option. Cant find a v3 3000 anywhere. I am located in the UK so if anybody can advise that would be great.

If you have an 800Hmz or better CPU, go for it.

the machine has a 400mhz K62 processor. Just that its a cheap good card. What do you think

The Radeon will be too much for your system. Forget that. I like the TNT M64 because I know it will work. The Voodoo should too, but it doesn't do OpenGL without a crappy software "wrapper".

I recomend is staed of the TNT 2 M64 to get a TNT 2 , or TNT 2 Pro. ts much better than a m 64 and they are still cheap. And if you want to upgrade later your CPU, then you will still have a good Video Card.
Go for A TNT 2 or Pro ( If you can get the ULTRA)
Dont recopmend the M 64

I think that your Velocity 100 is faster than a M64 card. I'd buy GF2MX400 for you...

I agree on the TNT2 Pro, but he's talking price.
