Remember when phone rates were cheap before the government broke up the phone company??
Oh sure, more competitors, lower prices, etc.. Yes, there are a lot more competitors but.........hummmmm...........I don't recall prices going down or staying level. Just higher and higher. I'll take the old AT&T and New Jersey Bell monopolies anyday.
I would like to see one mega company produce superior products that work hand in hand. The longer they do it, the better the product. Prices would be stable.

Remember when phone rates were cheap?

I remember when long distance was .35 a minute and higher.

Today I pay .05 cents a minute with no monthly fee.:)

Last month I switched from Southwestern Bell to a small company for my regular phone service. What burned me so with Bell was those recorded messages.. that most of the time don't work. You have to go through 6 recorded messages to talk to a live human.

The small company that I switched to is about the same price but they guarantee no recorded messages and a live person when you call them. :D

I wish my cable server offered phone service but as of yet they don't.

I remember when I had a problem with the phone company, they would do something about it. When AT&T owned the pay phones and something was amiss, you'd get a refund. Now they all tell you it's somebody else's problem...

1) Who owns the phone?

2) Who is the main connection?

3) Who carries your long distance when you use the pay phone?

It's enough to drive you to get cellular!
