I'm wondering what the Turbo modes in my ASUS P4B266-C BIOS are for...

I'm currently running my fsb@116...for a CPU speed of 2.56GHz...

I attempted to go to fsb118 and the system runs fine except it won't complete PCMark2002...runs everything else though...even games....

I'm thinking I'll need to take my voltage to 1.55 but don't want to mess with that until I figure out what the Turbo modes do....

thx in advance....

Turbo just adds just about 1% to the overall speed. It's like an automatic overclock.

You should beable to up the voltage to 1.55~1.575v no problem.

I am running my 1.8 @ 128x18 for 2.31GHz@ 1.65v /w turbo on. an it is very stable.

The cpu is holding me back, it's a costa rica so it is pretty much maxed out.

thanks for the reply.

I set my voltage to 1.55 and my fsb @118 and ran SiSoft and PCMark. All stable.

I'm still wondering though what the Turbo setting does exactly. The option for it is under Chip Configuration so I wonder if it only affects memory....

ok...I think I found what the Turbo1 setting does..

it sets the pci/agp at 36/72 even at 100fsb. this certainly helps me reach higher/stable OC...

right now I'm running 119fsb but after several benchmarks and temp readings, I think it can take more. :)
