I'm a terribly poor being. I want the performance, but does not wanting my machine to be over-ran.

I have a P4 1.8 GH, and want to overclock a little, what is the suggested clock-speed for overclocking???

I will try to OC it to 2.0, heh. I overclocked my K-6 before, but this P4 really cost me something, so I want to hear from the more experienced before I do something brave.

Well, if your P4 1.8 is a northwood, then you should have no trouble hitting the 2 GHz mark....

Just be careful. If you go too far, you'll have an expensive paper weight.

Turn up the FSB to 111 and you will go to 2GIG you don't have to touch anything else. The temps won't change.
It all depends on what MB you have

Good luck
