I am running Win XP Pro, and every so often, and message box pops up down at the task bar saying: Network Cable Unplugged. I know the cable did not come unplugged, and I do not lose any kind of connection. I am connected to another PC, through a LinkSys BEFSR41 router with a 4 port switch, connected to a cable modem. I also had this same problem when I was connected to a Linksys hub in Win 2000. If anyone could please tell me why I am receiving this pop up messege, I would greatly appreciate it. It gets kinda nerve racking after awhile. Could not find an answer anywhere!! Thanks !!
It sounds like a problem with the router or your NIC. If you have an extra NIC, try installing that and see if it helps. If the router is still under warrenty, call Linksys with the problem and see what they tell you to do. If you have a friendly computer store nearby, call them and ask if they have a way to check the router.

Thanks ArtB, I will contact Linksys and try to find an answer. It has me perplexed, I have never seen this message before.

Could it be a faulty cable? Maybe a loose end or something.
