I've got an ATX board (MVP3G2) and PSU, no power button, LEDS, etc (actually, no case). I'm building a custom case from a beer keg. Is it possible to jumper the main board so that when it is plugged in, it starts? Or am I going to have to find an old case to rob the switch setup from?
Thanks
Randy

all you need is a momentary on switch. you could use a doorbell button if you had to . all it has to do is make the connection for a fraction of a second and then go to an open state.

I think personally, I would rob all the stuff out of a normal ATX case.

Ok, you might need to position the switches and LED`s in certain places (for cosmetic satisfaction), But I reckon that would be the easiest way, cool lookin too!

You could use all the original cables and everything. I think the Idea of the system being in a Beer Keg is superb! Lol, I`m wishing I had a spare keg lying around now!

One thing that would probably bugger me up is the mounting of PCI/ISA/AGP cards in your system. I suppose if you have all the right equiment it`s easy, but personally, I don`t have the patience to do that sort of thing.

I could get most stuff mounted ok, PS, Mobo, Drives etc, but cards & stuff, naaaa, it`s too much effort for me, lol....

All the best with the keg, and if you get it all working and running ok, post some pics. I would like to see it.

TD.

PS. how about a door in the keg? One that could be opened quite easily, but still retaining the shape of the keg?

I am going to cut one end out of it, drop everything in, shake-it up real good to make sure everything is properly seated, and bolt on an electric car fan sucking out for OC cooling (also vent holes around the bottom). I'm thinking about just popping out the side plug to run all the cables into it, no need to cut slots, other then for the CD and floppy. When I have to get inside, tke out 3-bolts and remove the fan http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Kindda like the old Quasar Televisions...works in the drawer http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
