SearchSkillzzz 05-04-2002, 07:48 AM Doesn't look like a bad place man!:D bob05 05-06-2002, 09:10 PM Uh-oh! I bought 3 montiers, all refurbished. They worked for <1 month, then it started to work on and off. Then they stopped working, completly. And since they were refurbised they didn't give me any warranty. Well i hope your experince is better than mine......... Lycia 05-08-2002, 01:53 PM According to the people at the shop, the monitor is refurbished to liek new specs. If you go to their site, they have detailed info on what exactly thye do to refurbish these monitors. I received the monitor last week and so far it works flawlessly. One thing to remember about Sony based trinitron monitors, they have two very thin black lines running horizonataly across the screen. I know they are there, yet it does not bother me. The screen is crystal clear, what I expect from Sony. The only two things I find negative on this particular monitor is: 1. Size. This beast is circa 1995-96 and it's huge! I am a big girl and am pretty strong, but I had a rough time lifting it over my baby's crib which blocks part of the hallway!! 2. the look. The monitor's chassis is a bit dinged. Some minor scratches on the plastic and some dents..and the colour is a bit faded. However a bit of fine sandpaper and some Platinum paint has taken care of most of them. The screen itself has no sctraches and marks that were easily removed with a cleaner. Overall, I am happy with what I paid for it. I don't expect much of a long life out of it which is fine, since by the time I expect this monitor to die is about when newer 20' should be getting around the $200 mark. As for warranty, you normally get a 30 day parts and labor. However, if you live within driving distance, which I do, you will get an additional 60 days, bringing the total to 90 days. The shop is in Hayward, California, which is south of Oakland and north of San Jose...I live in San Francisco....:) namrak 05-28-2002, 11:54 AM Speaking of refurbished monitors. I took the dive in as well, but from a local, reputable vendor. They are selling refurbed Viewsonic monitors and so I picked up the P225f model (22" monitor) they had in stock. Only 7 day return policy for the store, but I have a 2 year warranty from Viewsonic. I couldn't pass on this monitor considering I paid a little less than half of the current going rate around my area. I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't conk out on me. Refurbs can be great deals, but I wonder if it doesn't prey on the mind though. Bovon 05-29-2002, 10:58 PM Lycia, Referbs are all different to some degree. I have bought and used several different kinds. The most recent (5 years ago) is a Nokia, Multigraph 447X (17inch)..one of the better referbs at the time. This monitor just keeps on truckin'...I must have really come up with the best one on the market. Referbs can give you a lot of good service without the upfront cost of a brand new one. Shinta 06-13-2002, 05:36 AM some guy i know bought a refurb monitor off the net and had problems with it :\ they even shipped it to him with someones dirty chocolate fingerprint on the screen lol SysOpt.com
