I prefer Getright. It's a shareware that once you enter the registration key, you can remove the adware. It's located at ********right.com (http://********right.com)

It is and, according to this list, so is Download Accelerator Plus.

Here's a list of currently known Spyware Infested Software (http://www.infoforce.qc.ca/spyware/enknownlistfrm.html)

The site says this list was last updated on 10.12.2000 and there is an updated list .zip file for download.

Getright is spyware in its unregistered version. However, once it is registered, you can remove the spyware software. That is what I did. I have run "Ad-aware" from Lavasoft, and it can find no trace of any spyware on my system.

This information was also available in a Langalist a while back and I think, but I'm not positive, it also states this at the getright web site.

Download a program called OptOut. It looks for spyware on your system and gets rid of it all. I just did mine and found 79 spyware files!!!

It's a great little program (freeware too) and it even gets rid of those annoying banner ads on Getright!!

You can get OptOut from http://grc.com/default.htm

Hope this helps

Marcus --

The problem is, Steve Gibson is no longer working on OptOut and is now recommending that you download and use Ad-aware from Lavasoft. I noticed this in an e-mail from him and also on the web site.

I found Ad-aware to find even more files and registry items than OptOut and it does the same good job of cleaning up what it finds. I still have my copy of OptOut and run it once in a while to see what it finds. But I use Ad-aware on a regular basis now.
