That is an interesting design. Do you have this model on your system? I think I might be interested in trying this one out. The weight concerns me a little. It would be nice to have it bolted onto the motherboard to relieve the stress on the socket clips.

I think I might be serious about this one. The design makes sense and I don' t have to throw a lot of money at it.

Me I hired a topless tahitian beauty with a palm frond to blow air into my pc....Hell thing locks up and shuts down all the time but who cares anymore. I'm to bust staring and grinning from ear to ear JK:D

I look forward to your report.
bushmaster: your solution has merit, but my wife would take exception to it and she does a pretty good job distracting me anyway...he he he...

:)
OK first i was suprised how loud it was compared to my other fan! but then i downloaded speed fan (very good tool) to control the RPM! which slowed the thing down considerably and decreased the noise!! but you wonder....slow down the RPM??? ok my case is about 35C to 33C normally, when i had my old fan my CPU would be idel at 39C and under full load 49C, which is prefectly allright.
With this baby however the CPU temp is at 37C UNDER FULL load! sweet...... this is at 6800RPM with 5870RPM (which is a lot quiter) the CPU temp is still 39C!!!!!! and i swear the 1000RPM difference is a huge sound difference!
When the CPU is idle (mhhh ok was surfing the web) CPU temp is 35C.
Conclusion, ahhh for some reason the temperature seems to always stay the same if idle or not with full RPM or not, which is obviously VERY COOL. I am very happy with the product, however i will put a drop of oil on (inside) the fan to see if that makes it a bit quiter. Oh and that handle which is supposed to make it easier to clip the thing on your cpu sockets does make installing it a 3 second procedure!
Anyway, gonna start overclocking now!!

That's interesting that your temps stayed the same under different loads and different fan speeds. I wonder if that is the heat pipes doing their job? Is so, do you really need a fan?
That was a good report. Thanks. Please tell us about your overclocking experience, too.

well ok you said do i really need a fan!
With Speedfan you can set the speed of the fan to 0%! hehehe ok you said i did!!!
when my computer was idel (ok windows was running with msn and zonealarm open) this happened at 0% fan speed:
the temperate increased 1C every 18 seconds roughly, i stopped at 50C, don't like playing games with temps (though my friends CPU is 65C normally)
at 5% fan speed (4623 RPM)
the temp decreased till it hit the 42C mark, (note: my case temp increased when i didnt have the fan on at all too, temp at 5% when started was 39C)
at 10% fan speed (5000RPM)
the temp quickly reached 37C! case temp dropped to 35C.
under full load temp was 41C and case temp was 36C.
I think my case temp increase has to do more with the fact that i closed my window and my room is quite small and my 19inch monitor warms it nicley!
With the 10% fan speed I had nearly the same temp as with 5870RPM which is ahh quite cool i guess! SO here we have it, its a great fan!
NOTE: the percentages are given in the program! i dont know how the calculations work cause they dont make much sense with the %.
for exampme
0% = 0 RPM
5% = 4470 RPM
20% = 5815 RPM
50% = 6400 RPM
100% = 7100 RPM
note the max RPM stated on packeging of the CPU cooler is 6800RPM!!!??? oh and the RPM change a bit up and down slightly when running! + - 300 RPM roughly
OVERCLOCKING
yeah i did increase my FSB to 144 and the temps increased a bit but i didnt really test that! cant be bothered with overclocking and testing if its stable today! girly is comming soon :D

It sounds like you have your priorities in the right place.
The fan speed/temp reading chart you produced is very interesting. I think I'm about ready to try this h/s fan combo. I want to puch my multiplier higher and I think this is the heatsink for me.
Thanks for the info...:D
