Just like it says win 98se. Every time I boot my parallel hp 722c is being re-detected. I'm aware that this detection can be turned off, so that no peripherals device will be detected upon boot, but don't wish to. Trying to figure this out. Any ideas.

I get this with my Canon laser printer.....

For some reason, Win98/ME insist that I install he windows drivers for the printer. It detects the hardware every time until I install the Win drivers.

Then, once that`s done, I install the drivers that came with the printer. This gives me 2 printers in Control Panel / Printers. Both set of drivers work, but if I delete the Win drivers, it redetects it?

The only solution I could find was to leave both sets of printer drivers installed. Just set the official printer drivers as the default and forget the others.

Might not be exactly what`s happening on yours, but that`s how I fixed mine.

Good luck!
