In the menu bar , select View> as Web Page.

You can make this choice seperately for each folder or for Windows Explorer.

Hi,

I think it would help if people knew what OS you have. :)

If you have W98SE:

With the "view as web page " setting, left click the image file once to preview , twice to open to view .

Check your Folder Options > Custom > Settings >

* Double click to open an item ( single click to select )

I'm assuming your trying to view from a Windows folder and not a programs folder.

I got to thinkin I might have missed something, so to add...

The preview option is available for W9x,ME,2000 and I'm not familiar enough with XP to comment.
So, in Windows 2000 and Me, choose Tools, Folder Options, select "Enable Web content in folders," and click OK

Your left pane viewing area may need to be expanded. Also it takes a moment to load the preview image for slower pc's.

If your looking to view thumbnails in the Folder, then right click the Folder, select properties> check the box 'enable thumbnail view". Then open the Folder with the images and in the menubar, select View> Thumbnails.

You might check and see if the preview problem applies to all the image files, example: .jpg, .jpeg, .bmp, .gif, etc. These file types registry settings might have been tampered with, and the Windows preview may not work for some or all. So, check them all.
To view the registry settings for these extentions:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ *the Extention Folder\ShellEX\{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]

[Default] ="{7376D660-C583-11d0-A3A5-00C04FD706EC}"

*Just replace "the Extention Folder" with the key your having a problem with. All the image extentions should use the same reg setting for Windows preview. If the key was already there but has the wrong value, you need to add the above also.

I hope I made this clear ,if not ask before making any changes , and of coarse back up the registry beforehand.

Hope this helps.
