How do i connect to a FTP server through a FTP proxy?

How do i setup a FTP proxy on a FTP client? Most FTP clients allow you to connect through a proxy, but i cant get it to work. What kind of Proxy Ip's do you use for that?

I use a proxy to tap my Dad's Internet connection.... I had to set up Internet Options=>Connection=>LAN Settings to tell my PC which IP/port to use....

Well, to the point, what OS are you using? What kind of Internet connection do you use? Give me some details 'bout your system/LAN.

To find out your IP address (This is the only quick way I know) In Windows XP/2000:Go to your Command prompt/MS-DOS prompt and type in IPCONFIG, I think in Windows 9X it's WINIPCONFIG or WINIPCFG.
