People say thaT in order to produce a good audio cd using a cdrw, you need to run the files through a "NORMAILIZER"...

Now what the heck is a normalizer and how do I find it in my software...

I have Nero Burning and the ADaptec Easy CD creator "lite" version..!..

A normalizer adjusts the levels of a file to maximum without hitting the ceiling of digital "zero". It helps keep things even, but loudness (percieved) is not the same as volume (absolute).

It exists in most good sound editing programs ~ Cool Edit Pro, and the like. Look for it in the junior versions as well.

Long Hair HP's point is a good one. But making compilation CD's, especially if your source CD's are older, you may find WIDE variation in "levels". Audiograbber features a normalizing program that is adjustable. (If you haven't guessed by now, I think Audiograbber is the handiest audio program I own).

Note that it is only for mixed CDs, some artists prefer to do some songs quieter than others for effect.

I found "MP3CDmaker" really easy to use and it has normalizing too.

Hey guys! Thanks for the posts but I wanted to know where was this option in the above progs.! I already have Cool Edit (which I think is the best audio editing prog.) but I meant a normalizer inside those burning utilities.

Looking and looking, I found it in Nero. I just put the file and right click it. Selected properties and a menu pops up with basic filters and stuff..!!!

Anyway, thanks to all you guys,..!!
