I got a strange message (as per attached) when I click on the link of System Restore of my Windows XP, please let me know what should I do now to make the system restore works again.

Please advise what should I do without lose my existing sate / format my hard drive.

Be sure that System Restore is enabled in System Properties first. If it is, boot from the XP CD and run through Setup until it sees your current OS (it will remind you). When it does, choose Repair and go through with it.
