I guess it's trying to tell you something :)
Check your NIC is seated properly inside its slot. Be sure you're using correct drivers. What's your OS and model of your NIC ?

Remove the NIC in Device Manager and restart the PC. Make sure that your cables are connected and all hubs/routers are functioning.
That's what I got when I went to Realtek to see if there're any updated drivers for your card :
This Web Site is Not available for maintenance.
We will be back by 17:00. Sorry for your inconvenience.
:(
And the ones I found with Yahoo seem quite outdated to me. Follow BipolarBill's advice, if it doesn't work for you then you'll have to wait for Realtek guys to finish the maintenance of their site ...

Thank You very much.
Bipolar Bill and ND. I Need one more help How can I remove NIC in device Manager.
Thank you guys again:)
Boot to Safe Mode.
My Computer/Properties/Device Manager/Locate your NIC and remove/uninstall it.
Reboot (to normal mode) and install the drivers when asked.

Can you tell us what happened to make it not work? Also, the operating system you are using and the specification of the machine.
The better we understand you, the better we can assist.
One last question, how many machines on your network and who set it up for you.?

I do not know the ans of all of your previous Q.
I have only one computer on network.
Thank you ND. I will try the way you have suggested. I do not have any thing (CD) to reinstall as it was installed by the technician.

I once had the same problem with a 3COM NIC.... After a lot of fuss with uninstalling/reinstalling, I finally changed PCI slots, and the stupid card started working! This sounds stupid, but I think it was an interrupt problem. Try this as a last resort, I guess...

Quick and dirty answer is as Bill mentioned. If there is a network cable connected to the network card, disconnect it. Next, go "start" -Run and then winipcfg. Release the IP address and do not renew it. Then click OK. Next go to Device Manager and highlight the NIC card and press remove. If it prompts you to restart select NO.
Now, power off the PC and disconnect the power chord. Open the case & remove the NIC. Reconnect the power chord and fire it up. Once it fully loads everything perform a normal shutdown. Now, once again disconnect the power chord, put the NIC back into the computer, but this time into a different PCI slot and make sure that it seats completely. Reconnect the power chord and fire it up. Windows should auto detect the card. If it prompts you for the driver installation disks, slect browse, and then browse over to C;\windows\system. All of the drivers should still be located there.

Hi Samcam,
I am sorry if I misunderstood you, but you can post back if I am wrong. Have you only got one Pc? If you have only one PC, the network card is only needed if you buy another PC and establish a local area network of two machines. (or happen to be on a cable modem)
Either way, the other posts will get it working again, althought for a newbie it may appear a bit daunting. But if you do only have one machine,(and no cable modem) removing the card from the pc will quickly cure your problem as described by Rainford.
