Why my computer freezes, then unfreezes then freezes.

Hi, sometiems i go into chatrooms that i are java based (i think). AA chatrooms (asianavenue) anyways, when i go into the chat room, my computer starts freezing and unfreezing. this didn't use to happen when i had 56k. do you guys have any reasons explaining why its happening like this?

Java applets need something like 300MHz processor to run well. Yet, I don't know why those problems didn't occur while you was on dial-up and began happenning since you moved to broadband :confused:
Can you please post specs of your system including OS ?

Heres my specs:

PIII EB 800MHZ
Geforce 2 GTS Annihilator
40GB Hard Drive
Sound Blaster X-Gamer

I'm thinking its might be something with my broadband because i never got this problem before broadband, but then again, i woudl not know how broadband would affect my computer like this.

Well, those specs look quite respectable to me, and I assume you're using all the latest (and good working) drivers for all your hardware ...
You didn't specify your OS ... too bad. Also I have to know which browser of what version you're using, did you try to see if the same thing happens using another browser (IE/Netscape/Opera) ?

If you are on any flavors of windows 9X. Check your IRQ's if your video card and NIC are on the same one. It can cause the pause your talking about. Or lockups also.

Yes if its in the slot next to the agp then it could cause you problems, move it to another slot either way see what happens windows will just reload the drivers since there already in.
